Mavs don't put Pacers away
By Tim MacMahon
DALLAS -- Midway through the third quarter, it appeared that the Mavs might be able to rest their starters in the fourth quarter.
But the Mavs failed to finish the quarter strongly, allowing the Pacers to score the final five points. Dallas enters the fourth with an 11-point lead, which isn't quite comfortable enough to tell Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd to unlace their shoes and take it easy.
Rick Carlisle insisted that the Mavs wouldn't overlook the Pacers (without Danny Granger) with the Lakers coming to town in a couple of nights. But it sure looked like the Mavs lost interest after their lead swelled into the upper teens.
