Roddy debut upstaged by Jermaine Taylor?

By Jeff Caplan

DALLAS -- The Roddy Beaubois Show got off to a fast start with coach Rick Carlisle waiting barely two minutes to bring him in. He quickly revealed that his speed and quickness are in fine shape.

One sequence saw him grab a defensive rebound and go coast-to-coast, finishing with a little finger roll at the rim. Beaubois played eight minutes in the first quarter and scored six points with two assists and two turnovers. He was 3-of-5 from the field, missing both 3-point attempts.

But the Mavs found themselves tied, 25-25, with the Kings, who are without Tyreke Evans.

A big reason for that was the play of second-year guard Jermaine Taylor, who was starting in place Evans. Taylor scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Peja Stojakovich had five points in the quarter.
