Mavs finally sized for championship rings
By Jeff Caplan
Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry helped pick out the design for the Mavs' championship rings, which will be similar to the Chicago Blackhawks' from their Stanley Cup win in 2010.
DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks won't get their NBA championship rings, or hardware as the guys like to call them these days, for the Christmas Day opener, but they won't be far off.
Ring sizes have been taken and a design has been chosen, Jason Kidd said. Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry helped to choose the design, something Mark Cuban wanted to do, but couldn't consult them until this week because of the lockout.
The rings, Kidd said, will be similar to that of the Chicago Blackhawks 2010 Stanley Cup champions ring. Kidd and company selected the Blackhawks design from a choice of three. Safe to say there's plenty of diamonds in it.
"That's the picture we went with,'' Kidd said. "I think it's our logo, but that's the one we kind of decided on.''
