His girls AAU team might be favored over the Charlotte Bobcats.

OK, that’s a stretch, but the Bobcats are historically horrible by NBA standards, a legitimate threat to be the fourth single-digit-win team in NBA history. Charlotte ranks dead last in the league in scoring (86.8 points per game) and 27th out of 30 teams in defense (100.2).

How bad are the Bobcats? They have the second-worst average margin of defeat in NBA history behind only the 1992-93 Mavericks.

The Bobcats have never beaten the Mavericks. The Mavs are 14-0 against Charlotte, the longest winning streak for one team against another other than the Lakers’ 18-game streak against the Timberwolves.

Records: Bobcats (6-35); Mavs (24-20)

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: American Airlines Center

TV: FSSW

Radio: ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM/1270 AM (Spanish)

What to watch: Can Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki get the fourth quarter off? That should be the Mavs’ goal for this game. There’s no good reason the Bobcats, who were blown out by the Rockets last night, should be within striking distance after three quarters.

Key matchup: Rodrigue Beaubois vs. Kemba Walker -- The battle of the backup point guards, featuring a pair of phenomenal athletes, ought to be entertaining. Beaubois is coming off one of the best all-around games of his career. Walker, who carried Connecticut to the NCAA title last March, averages 12.4 points and 4.0 assists in 27.9 minutes per game.

Injuries: Mavs -- G Delonte West (fractured right ring finger) is out; F Shawn Marion (sore left knee) is day-to-day.

Up next: Spurs at Mavs, 8 p.m., Saturday
