Dallas Mavericks: DeShawn Sims
The Mavs will hold two more workouts next week in preparation for Thursday night's NBA draft. Dallas has the No. 50 pick overall.
A look at today's six-pack:
Sylven Landesberg, 6-6, 185, Virginia
Notes: The sophomore wing averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He can handle the ball and uses his size and athleticism to create and get to the free throw line. He's a lanky playmaker, the type of player the Mavs say they need. He could be available at No. 50. He was suspended for the ACC tournament for "failure to live up to his academic obligations," and opted to enter the draft.
DeShawn Sims, 6-8, 235, Michigan
Notes: Averaged 16.8 points and 7.6 rebounds as a senior. He's a good athlete and strong defender, who has improved his scoring and rebouding to become a second-team All-Big Ten selection.
Ben Uzoh, 6-3, 200, Tulsa
Notes: Averaged 15.3 points and 4.7 assists as a senior. A physically unique guard with a 6-9 wingspan combined with excellent leaping ability and athletic ability, Uzoh attracts attention but his overall game is said to need refinement.
Armon Bassett, 6-2, 180, OhioNotes: Averaged 22 points in the final 15 games and piled up a Mid-America Conference record 116 points in four tournament games to lead Ohio to the NCAA tournament. Not considered a highly rated underclassmen. In May, was accused of assaulting a doorman at an Athens, Ohio bar, and was suspended from school.
Eric Tramiel, 6-7, 225, North Texas
Notes: Averaged 12.9 points and 6.0 rebounds as a senior and nearly indentical numbers as a junior. Transferred to UNT after playing two years at Paris Junior College. His size makes him a long shot for the NBA.
Wayne Chism, 6-9, 245, Tennessee
Notes: Averaged 12.6 points and 7.2 rebounds as a senior. A tough, smart player, scouts aren't crazy about his size in terms of guarding power forwards and he needs work to become a better spot-up shooter.
