Brian BowlesJosh Hedges/Zuffa/UFCI predict Dominick Cruz will defeat Brian Bowles and become WEC's new bantamweight champ.
Hi everyone, Anthony Njokuani here and I've teamed up with ESPN Dallas in order to provide this blog to all my fans, readers, and anyone who loves MMA as much as I do.

I hope to provide you with exclusive insight on upcoming WEC events and other miscellaneous topics in the world of MMA.

So let's begin with WEC 47!

The fights will take place March 6 in Columbus, Ohio. The event will no doubt be a great one and I can't wait to get there and see these guys go at it. I'll be in the house, so if you happen to be in town, swing by and say hi. This is going to be a sick event that you will not want to miss. Be ready for some madness in the cage!

The main event will be Bowles vs. Cruz. Brian Bowles will be defending his bantamweight title for the first time against Dominick Cruz. The fight card is stacked with several really great fighters! I’ve got a great deal of respect for all the guys going into the cage this weekend. They've trained hard for this!

My fight breakdowns and picks

  • Bowles vs. Cruz: In order for Brian Bowles to keep his belt, he will have to play a smart game against Dominick Cruz. Cruz has great striking, cardio, and won't let up easy. Because of these qualities and the fact that he knows how to use his angles very well, my pick goes to Cruz for the bantamweight title. Cruz wins and becomes the new bantamweight champ.
  • Benavidez vs. Torres: Coming back from a previous loss, Miguel Torres will without a doubt be hungry for the win. Despite that fact, my pick still goes to Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez has a lot of power in his punches, he's explosive on his feet, and he has great wrestling skills. Benavidez wins.
  • Pulver vs. Vazquez: I don't know much about Javier Vazquez so I'm going to pull out the wild card on this one and go with veteran Jens Pulver. Pulver wins.
  • Davis vs. Taurosevicius: LC Davis will go up against Deividas Taurosevicius (thought my last name was hard for you folks to pronounce. lol). I'll go with Davis on this one. I've seen him fight and I was impressed with his performance. Davis wins.
  • Darebdyan vs. Palaszewski: I’ve seen Karen Darabedyan first hand, when he took on ‘Razor’ Rob in WEC 44 out in Vegas. His boxing was on point. He had great striking style. And he didn’t back off of McCullough, which led him to the victory. On the other hand, Bart Palaszewski is a tough guy and I know this from first hand experience, from our fight at WEC 40. He won't let off easily and he'll keep coming forward throughout the fight. This will be a very close bout and will be a tough fight to pick. Karen Darabedyan wins.
  • George vs. Jorgensen: This will be another awesome matchup that I can't wait to see. I’ve got to go with my boy, Scott Jorgensen. Although they are both great fighters, I believe Jorgensen will take this one with a knockout. That boy has power in his hands! Jorgensen wins by KO.
  • Koch vs. Mendes: Mendes wins.
  • Castillo vs. Pettis: Yet another good fight! Danny Castillo comes from a great team so I'm confident he'll execute a smart fight. Although Anthony Pettis, who’s a bit flashy, has the skills to kill, I’ve got to go with Castillo on this one. Castillo wins.
  • Garcia vs. Roop: I can’t wait to see what these guys will bring to the cage, although I’m picking Leonard to come out victorious. Garcia wins.
  • Lamas vs. Casimir: Ricardo Lamas is relentless and won't back down. His consistent head movements will keep him out of trouble and will lead him to victory against Bendy Casimir. Lamas wins.
  • Paixo vs. Buck: Fredson Paixo will be one hungry guy during this fight. His previous losses will surely be his fuel for this fight against Buck. He's been training hard on his game and he needs this win to set him back on track and to get his first WEC win. Although Courtney Buck, also looking for his first WEC win, is the favorite, I'm picking Fredson the underdog. Paixo wins.

Check back in April when I’ll be discussing WEC 48. And by the way, I’ll be on that fight card!
