Jeff Gordon putting '10 memories behind him
By Todd Archer
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Jeff Gordon had a wild time at Texas Motor Speedway last year.
In the spring race, he led 124 laps before wrecking and finishing 31st. In the fall Gordon finished 37th after him and Jeff Burton, two of the more mild drivers in the Sprint Cup series, had a memorable fight after getting together on a caution.
“We’ve put it behind us really,” Gordo said. “We certainly want to put more focus on the good run we had earlier last year when we felt like we had a car that could’ve won and try to re-create that this time.”
Gordon said he made a mistake in preparing for Friday’s qualifying run by focusing too much on race trim. Plus, the night start will lead to more confusion on race set-ups. Because of the warm temperatures, Gordon anticipates a slick track.
“We’ve not been on the track in the same conditions we’ll be racing in, that’s always tricky for night races,” Gordon said. “Rarely to you get to be on the track in the same or similar conditions and that makes it a guessing game for everybody.”
