What is this Brimstone stuff? It was a rivalry born on the field, not because of the names of the clubs. Although the video only shows the goals and none of the nasty stuff. It still gives a taste.

FC DALLAS WILL FACE 2010 UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNER INTER MILAN AT PIZZA HUT PARK ON AUGUST 5
Special pre-sale began today for FC Dallas season ticket holders
FRISCO, Texas (May 24, 2010) – Newly crowned 2010 UEFA Champions League winner F.C. Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) will play FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park on Thursday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m., the team announced today.
A limited pre-sale available to FC Dallas season ticket holders, flex plan holders, FC Dallas Youth and large groups began today, while the general public will be able to purchase tickets beginning June 28.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring the best team in Europe to Pizza Hut Park this summer,” Hunt Sports Group Chairman Clark Hunt said. “Inter Milan put together a great run this season, and this is a tremendous opportunity for FC Dallas fans to watch their club take on some of the best players in the world.”
Inter Milan brought home the European championship for the first time in 45 years on Saturday, blanking Bayern Munich 2-0 in front of a packed house at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium. Inter had not won Europe’s most prestigious club soccer competition since claiming consecutive titles in 1964 and 1965. Argentine striker Diego Milito notched both goals in the contest, scoring in each half.
With the win, Inter Milan became the first Italian side to win the Coppa Italia, Serie A title and Champions League in the same season.
“We’re very honored to welcome Inter Milan to Frisco,” said Mayor Maher Maso. “Pizza Hut Park is a world class stadium so it’s fitting to bring this world renowned team to Frisco. Our community is home to people of many cultures who are fans of the most popular sport in the world.”
The Italian club was founded 102 years ago and plays its home games in the 80,074-seat Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The only club never to have been relegated from the Italian Serie A, Inter Milan has claimed 18 Serie A titles, including the last five, as well as the Coppa Italia six times and the Supercoppa Italiana four times. Inter Milan is known as Il Nerrazurri (the black and blue) for the colors on their logo and jersey.

A few comments from the game last night. I see that Hyndman is talking about how poor the team played last night, but from my point of view the problems start at the top. Bruce Arena out-coached Hyndman without having to do anything special on his end. Some of the perplexing moves made by Hyndman last night:
Why wait to make the substitutions? The team had 30 minutes in the first half to respond to LA's goal, and yet they created less chances in those 30 minutes than they did before LA's goal. It was clear that bringing out the same squad to start the second half was not going to change the flow of the game.
Let's see... I'm down a goal... the other team is bunkering in with all eleven men on their end of the field... what should be my first substitution? That's it! Pull my only legitimate forward for another midfielder. Cunningham has to be on the field when you are trying to score. I don't have a problem with him bringing Avila first. In fact, Avila should have started the second half. It just would have made more sense to bring him in for Hernandez who kept hitting long balls to nobody, and wasn't really needed on the defensive end because LA wasn't attacking Hartman's goal.
Let's see... I'm down a goal... the other team is bunkering in with all eleven men on their end of the field... I think I will stay in the lone forward formation for the full 90. Even when he pulled the defender Loyd, he still stayed with the lone forward formation. What was even more ridiculous about the formation is the way that FCD was attacking LA's goal with that formation. Crossing the ball to a single forward amongst the trees of the LA defense over and over. Where was the combination play? the quick passing on the ground that so easily breaks those trees?
Like I said before, Hyndman has every right to be upset about the "worst" performance since he has been here, but as he searches for answers he needs to look at the mirror because he was the one conducting.

FCD's 18 year old prodigy is taking a big step forward this week as he has been named to FCD's 18 man squad for the regular season match against the LA Galaxy Thursday. This is the first time Leyva has been named to the 18 since he signed with FC Dallas.
Will he see the field? That will certainly depend on how things go. But if FCD needs possession or attacking skill late the chances are good I would have to think.
FCD has put out a release about Leyva...
FC DALLAS “HOME GROWN” SIGNEE BRYAN LEYVA SET TO MAKE GAME DAY ROSTER DEBUT
18-year-old earns spot on the 18-man roster for L.A. Galaxy game
FRISCO, Texas (May 19, 2010) – Last September Bryan Leyva became the first player in FC Dallas history to earn a professional contract through the club’s youth development system. Thursday, Leyva will join the 18-man game day roster for the first time in his young MLS career.
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, the 18-year-old prodigy came to the United States in 2000 and quickly became a star among the youth ranks. Last summer, he earned a spot on the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Central Conference Best XI and was a key player for the team the previous season, scoring 13 goals. Leyva frequently appears for his native Mexico’s junior national teams, playing against Sweden and Korea Republic in last October’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

1996: Jason Kreis and Hugo Sanchez
1997: Temoc Suarez
1998: Dante Washington and Damian
1999: None
Which is kinda shocking given this was the best season in Burn/FCD history.
2000: Ariel Graziani
2001: None
Although 3 or 4 from this season came against Dallas. Boo. It sure seems like a shocking number of great goals in these videos are coming against Dallas.

2003: Brad Davis
2004: Ronnie O'Brien
2005: Carlos Ruiz and Ronnie O'Brien

This is a game I would think could see a nice FC Dallas fan base in attendence. I'm sure Houston will have a good crowd, I would love to see Dallas represent. I for one am planning on being there.
Here are the FCD names on the fan ballott...
Forward: Jeff Cunningham and Brek Shea
Midfield: Atiba Harris, David Ferreira, Daniel Hernandez, Marvin Chavez, and Dax McCarty
Defense: Ugo Ihemelu, George John, Heath Pearce, and Jair Benitez
Goalkeeper: Dario Sala
One interesting note about names on All-Star ballots... they are usually submitted by the teams. Which means you can tell who the team expected to be a starter going into the season. FCD has 12 names on the ballot, ok that's weird too. Marvin Chavez being the odd one at this point, although Brek Shea isn't exactly a forward. I'm sure FCD wanted Ferreira listed as a midfielder, he would be "lost" among the strikers.
Former Red Stripe and local boy Jamie Watson is their leading scorer and sits second in the league in both points (9) and goals (4). "The other" Eddie Johnson is close behind with 3 goals and 7 points.
Another local boy, and personal favorite, Jay Needham has started every game.
Several ex-MLS players peper their roster like Lance Watson, Yohance Marshall, and Leonard Griffin.
One of this seasons draft picks FCD will be tracking long term, Sean Kelley, is one of their goal keepers.
