Injury and suspension updates

FC Dallas has been through a tough couple of months on the injury front, and this week hasn't seen a let up in that department.

George John tweaked his hamstring on Friday in training, relegating him to the bench for the playoff opener. Based on the comments from FCD media relations and coaching staff, coach Schellas Hyndman called him 80%, John may be able to recover for the 2nd leg of the playoffs on the 6th of November.

Heath Pearce appears to be worse off. FC Dallas won't confirm the severity of his hamstring (and I checked again this morning), which is usually a bad sign. Some scuttlebutt and rumor has him out for the season but there no verifiability to that, playoff panic being what it is it's hard to put much stock in rumor at this point. Pearce was on the bike all week, so he hasn't been shut down completely, so there is some possibility we will see him again depending on how long the playoffs last for the Red Stripes. I think FCD fans will have to assume Pearce is out until we hear differently.

Milton Rodriguez pulled his right groin in the opener. No report from FCD on the severity of that injury either as it's only been a day. FCD says Rodriguez will be re-evaluated Monday, at which point we should know more.

Jackson played in the opener but clearly labored. Hyndman said Jackson was only 85% going into the game. If John can get healthy, FCD may have the luxury of resting Jackson in the next one. Or if Jackson continues to improve he may play at right back over Zach Loyd.

Atiba Harris with the red card is suspended for the 2nd leg, as is RSL's Javier Morales. Losing Harris is a blow, but most FCD fans would probably take a "FCD loses Harris, RSL loses Morales" scenario if offered. Brek Shea into one of the wide midfield spots seems an obvious solution.

Both Ugo Ihemelu and Kevin Hartman looked to not be 100% but both came through the first game healthy.

We'll find out more during the week, but for now...
