Three Red Stripes Play for USA vs Chile
Zach Loyd started at left back and played seventy three minutes with energy and some attacking flare. His performance could have been better, but he did well enough he should get some more US time soon enough.
Brek Shea started at left midfield and put in a really strong performance for sixty minute. It's arguable he was the best US player while he was on the field.
Coming on as a sub, Eric Alexander did what he could in seven minutes of play with several nice balls into danger areas.
It's interesting to note that two of these three players aren't even regular starters for FC Dallas. It remains to be seen if Alexander can win the spot vacated by Dax McCarty in the Dallas midfield and Loyd hasn't managed to displace either Heath Pearce at right back or Jair Benitez at left back.
This recent US camp and Chile game was mostly about spoting talent for the next four year cycle. Talent that could be worked into the mix and expected to be in the 23 come Brazil 2014. To that end all three FCD players look to have helped themselves.
Here's Teal Bunbury's goal.
