Will this be the week for Fabian Castillo and David Ferreira to Return?

One of the burning questions on the mind of every FC Dallas fan is when 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira will return to the pitch for his first game since breaking his ankle last April? Supporters probably also wonder when fellow Colombian Fabian Castillo, who suffered a knee contusion in last weekend’s 2-1 win over New York, an injury that forced him to miss a 1-1 draw with Portland on Saturday, will return.

Ferreira continues to experience pain after suffering an foot injury during the final week of preseason training in Florida and it doesn't sound good for him to be back for Sunday’s first road match of the year at Sporting Kansas City.

“With David it’s kind of a day-to-day. He still has pain in his movements,” FCD head coach Schellas Hyndman said. “It seems to be more of a bone bruise from what I’m understanding and with bone bruises, you’ve got to wait for it to heal and the more you push it, the more the bone bruise lingers on.”

And the news is somewhat nebulous when it comes to the status of Castillo and striker Scott Sealy, who was signed during preseason and has been bothered by a knee issue.

“Castillo I haven’t gotten a report on yet this week but I know both he and David and Scott Sealy were all out of training today. They were all doing extra things on the side to recover from their injuries,” Hyndman said.

None of the three traveled with the FCD reserves for Tuesday’s match with the Colorado Rapids reserves.
