Options are thin for FC Dallas at striker
On one hand, Hyndman could go with the proven, veteran commodity in Scott Sealy. Sure, the native of Trinidad and Tobago hasn’t done all that well since returning, but he is a veteran presence who has the benefit of a strong and successful track record behind him.
“He’s done OK,” Hyndman said of Sealy’s performance to date. “He didn’t have much of a preseason. He’s a fighter. He’s out there because we need him out there. If Brek Shea was healthy and so forth, Scott would be a great guy to bring off the bench and building his way into the first team. He’s just kind of been thrown out there and I don’t think he’s at his best whether it’s game sharpness, match fitness or whatever it might be, he’ll tell you the same but hey, I’m awfully glad he’s here.”
Then again, the FCD gaffer could go with young homegrown striker Ruben Luna, who has yet to see any time with the first team this year. Luna has been playing well of late for the Dallas reserve team, but has he done enough to earn a shot, much less a starting role, even if it is only for one game?
“Maybe, I don’t know if I need to see more [from Luna],” Hyndman said. “I think what happens now is what are our options?”
