Major League Soccer has suspended FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for deliberately kicking the ball at an assistant referee in the 24th minute of Saturday's loss at Columbus, the league announced.

Shea will serve his suspension during FC Dallas' next three regular-season games.

Shea reacted to the suspension via his Twitter account Thursday:

I know that my recent actions have let everyone down, but I will learn from this mistake.
