As was released earlier this week, FC Dallas will begin US Open Cup play on June 28th against the winner of the 2nd round match between Charleston Battery and Orlando City. That match takes tonight and can be seen live on the USL's live feed site USL Live.

So if you'd like an early preview of next week's USOC opponent tune in and enjoy the show.

Orlando City is the former Austin Aztex who were moved to Orlando this off-season. Former FCD striker Jamie Watson is a key player for them and they have former FCD draft pick (and a keeper to keep an eye on) Sean Kelley. Their roster has some other ex-MLS players on it. The two sides faced off in the pre-season at the Walt Disney Pro Soccer Classic with FCD winning 1-0.

The Charleston Battery is a team FCD has run into on multiple occasions in the US Open Cup, including a 3-1 upset win by the Battery in the 2008 Quarterfinals that still ranks as one of the worst defeats in club history. Ex-FCD man Lazo Alavanja played for Charleston for quite a while. The Battery are the true owners of the first soccer-specific-stadium in the US and Blackbaud Stadium is one of the great soccer venus in the US. Awesome soccer pub there too.
