The Dallas Stars ended their season with a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center Saturday night. The Stars, who lost their final five games, ended the season with a 42-35-5 record and 89 points.

Ryan Garbutt and Philip Larsen scored goals for the Stars. Richard Bachman stopped 32 of 35 shots.

First period

Stars goalie Richard Bachman was sharp in the first period, stopping nine shots.

The Stars had three power play chances, but could muster only one shot on goal.

St. Louis was 0-1 on the power play.

The Blues had a 9-8 shots advantage through one period.

Second period

The Stars had a couple of good scoring chances early in the second, but Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak stopped Adam Burish on a breakaway and denied a Ryan Garbutt bid from the slot.

Garbutt and Blues defenseman Barret Jackman picked up fighting majors in the period.

The Blues scored the first goal of the game with 8:54 left in the period when a Kris Russell shot from the left circle hit traffic, sending the puck over Stars goalie Richard Bachman and into the net.

Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon, making his NHL debut, had a nice backdoor chance, but was stopped by Halak with 3:00 left.

Third period

The Blues extended their lead to 2-0 with a power play goal with 12:06 remaining. With Loui Eriksson in the box for tripping, Alex Steen put a shot on net that was tipped into the net by David Perron.

The Stars got on the board with 10:51 remaining with the two teams playing four-on-four. Eriksson put a shot on goal from the left circle off the rush and Ryan Garbutt crashed the net and knocked the rebound past Halak to make it a 2-1 game. Jordie Benn also picked up an assist on the goal.

The Blues got their two goal lead back with another power play tally with 6:16 remaining when Perron roofed a shot from the right circle for his second goal of the night.

The Dallas Stars’ bid for a playoff spot ended Thursday night with a 2-0 loss at Nashville. The Predators broke a scoreless tie with 15:32 left in the game and then sealed with the win with another goal with 2:00 remaining.

The loss by Dallas clinched playoff spots for Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Jose.

The Stars have now missed the playoffs four straight seasons.

Dallas was shut out for the second time in the last three game and for the seventh time this season.

The Stars were 0-4 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill in the game.

Nashville moved ahead of Detroit, a 2-1 loser to New Jersey Thursday, for the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

First period

The shots were 9-8 in favor of Nashville in the scoreless first period.

The Stars had the only power play of the period and changed things up, going with a first unit of four forwards (Loui Eriksson, Jamie Benn, Michael Ryder and Mike Ribeiro) and one defenseman (Stephane) Robidas.

Second period

Shots were 8-8 in the second period and both teams had one power play chance, but neither could take advantage.

The Stars came closest to scoring. Defenseman Trevor Daley put a shot on net off the rush that got through Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, but it hit the post and stayed out of the net.

The Stars lost defenseman Mark Fistric in the period. The team said he was out for the rest of the game with a lower body injury.

Third period

The Predators got the first goal of the game with 15:32 left when Francis Bouillon scored on the rebound of a Patric Hornqvist wrap-around.

Nashville sealed the win when Hornqvist got to the rebound of a Brandon Yip shot and whipped it past Kari Lehtonen with exactly 2:00 left in the game.

The Stars pulled Lehtonen with just under two minutes left for the extra attacker, but couldn’t get a puck past Rinne.

Stars drop to ninth after loss to Sharks

The Dallas Stars fell to ninth place in the Western Conference after a 3-0 loss in San Jose on Saturday night and trail the eighth-place Sharks by a point. The two teams meet again Tuesday in Dallas.

The loss was the sixth in the last nine games for the Stars, who were outshot 34-22. The Stars, who have three games left, trail seventh-place Phoenix by two points. The Stars also trail Pacific Division leader Los Angeles by two points.

Joe Pavelski scored two goals for San Jose. Sharks goalie Antti Niemi stopped 22 shots for his sixth shutout of the season. Kari Lehtonen made 31 saves for Dallas.

First period

The Sharks struck in the first minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Joe Thornton sent the puck into the slot to Joe Pavelski, who whipped the puck past Kari Lehtonen at the 58 second mark.

The Sharks had three power plays in the period and cashed in on the third one to take a 2-0 lead late in the period. Martin Havlat sent a pass across the crease to Jason Demers, who scored from the right circle with 1:22 left in the first.

The Stars had one power play in the period and had a great scoring chance, but Justin Braun got a stick on Michael Ryder’s attempt on a wide open side of the net.

The Sharks outshot the Stars 12-6 in the period.

Second period

The Sharks extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal while the teams were playing at four-on-four. Marc-Edouard Vlasic’s shot from the point was tipped home by Joe Pavelski at the 9:39 mark of the second.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan did a lot of line juggling in the second and the Stars did create some chances late in the period, but Sharks goalie Antti Niemi made a couple of sharp saves to keep them off the board.

Stars forward Jake Dowell and Sharks forward Andrew Desjardins dropped the gloves in the period.

San Jose outshot the Stars 15-8 in the second and a 27-14 advantage through two periods.

Third period

There was no scoring in the period.

The Stars did kill of a lengthy San Jose five-on-three power play.

Stars fall to Canucks, 5-2

The Dallas Stars were knocked out of first place in the Pacific Division after losing 5-2 at Vancouver on Friday night. Los Angeles, a 4-1 winner at Edmonton, took over the top spot in the division. The Stars are now seventh in the Western Conference.

The Stars, who have lost five of their last eight games, play at ninth place San Jose Saturday. They lead the Sharks by one point.

Steve Ott and Jake Dowell scored for the Stars. Kari Lehtonen stopped 26 of 30 shots in 49:59 of playing time for the Stars. Richard Bachman played the final 10:01 and stopped three of four shots.

Cory Schneider stopped 28 of 30 for the Canucks, who won their fifth straight game.

First period

Both teams had some good chances early in the period, but the Canucks struck first at the 6:17 mark. Jannik Hansen got to a puck along the right boards and backhanded it to Chris Higgins, who beat Kari Lehtonen with a quick shot from the slot.

Roberto Luongo was expected to start for the Canucks, but Cory Schneider was announced as the starter just before game time. He was superb in the first period, making 13 saves. He had a couple of sharp saves on Jamie Benn along with good stops on Michael Ryder and Mike Ribeiro in the period.

Vancouver had the only power play of the period. The Stars had a 13-7 edge in shots.

Second period

The Stars tied the game at 3:16 of the second. After Jamie Benn put a shot on net off a faceoff, Steve Ott got to the rebound and slipped it past Cory Schneider to make it a 1-1 game.

After that it was a series of quality saves by Schneider and Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen.

Lehtonen had a save on Samuel Pahlsson and two on Chris Higgins. On the Canucks second power play of the game Schneider made a big shorthanded stop on Ott and then made a spectacular save on a shorthanded bid by Loui Eriksson. He made another shorthanded save on Vernon Fiddler on Vancouver’s third power play.

The Canucks took the lead on that third power play when Sami Salo’s blast from the right point went through traffic and past Lehtonen with 8:39 left in the period.

The Canucks made it 3:35 left in the second. Moments after Schneider stopped Jake Dowell, the Canucks went the other way and Henrik Sedin found defenseman Andrew Alberts, who scored off a blast from the left circle.

The Canucks outshot the Stars 20-13 in the second period and had a 27-26 advantage through two periods.

Third period

Reilly Smith got bumped up to a line with Benn and Ott to start the third, and Smith hit the post early in the period. But the Canucks scored twice in a 2:12 to blow the game open. Henrik Sedin set up Alex Burrow, who scored from close range a the 9:06 mark to make it a 4-1 game.

The Stars pulled Lehtonen in favor of Richard Bachman a short time later and the Canucks quickly scored to make it a 5-1 game when a wide open Max Lapierre scored from the slot at the 11:18 mark.

Jake Dowell scored late for the Stars to round out the scoring.

Stars down Oilers, 3-1

Michael Ryder scored two goals and had one assist to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night.

The victory moved the Stars into first place in the Pacific Division.

Ryder’s goals were his 34th and 35 of the season. Mike Ribeiro had one goal and two assists for the Stars and Loui Eriksson chipped in two assists. Kari Lehtonen stopped 31 of 32 shots.

Stars forward Reilly Smith made his NHL debut in the game. He played 4:05 and one shot on goal.

First period

The Stars had the first power play chance of the game, but the Oilers had the best scoring chance on a two-on-one. Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen came up with a big save, stopping Nick Schultz’s close range bid.

The Stars took the lead on a goal by Michael Ryder, who split two Oilers defensemen off the rush and beat Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk with a backhand shot at the 11:53 mark.

Lehtonen came up with another big save later in the period, stopping a close range bid by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Stars forward Reilly Smith, who was making his NHL debut in the game, had a shot on his first shift. He played 2:37 in the period.

The Stars were 0-2 on the power play and the Oilers had no power play chances.

Dallas had a 13-12 shots advantage.

Second period

The Stars extended their lead to 2-0 when Mike Ribeiro finished off a give-and-go with Loui Eriksson on a two-on-one rush at 5:05 of the second.

The Oilers got their first power play of the night eight minutes into the second, but Kari Lehtonen came up with sharp saves on Jeff Petry and Ales Hemsky to keep Edmonton off the board.

The Oilers got a second power play later in the period, but weren’t able to generate any shots.

The Stars came close to making it a 3-0 game, but Michael Ryder’s breakaway bid late in the period was turned away by Devan Dubnyk.

Third period

The Stars opened the period with a power play, but the Oilers had the best scoring chance. Jordan Eberle had a breakaway, but his backhand shot was turned way to keep the Stars up 2-0 in the game.

Dallas made it 3-0 at the 4:11 mark when Loui Eriksson won a puck battle behind the Edmonton goal line, sent it to Ribeiro, who then set up Ryder, who scored his second of the night from close range.

The Oilers finally got on the board with 11:39 left in the game when Ales Hemsky scored off a rebound to make it a 3-1 game.

Stars fall to Flames, 5-4

The Dallas Stars lost for the fourth time in the last six games, falling 5-4 to the Flames in Calgary Monday night.

The Flames took control of the game in the second period, outscoring the Stars 4- 2 to take a 5-3 lead into the third period. Calgary scored three times on six power play chances, including two late in the second period to turn a 3-3 game into a 5-3 game. The Stars were 1-4 on the power play.

Where the Stars end up in the standings will depend on games still being played Monday night.

Jamie Benn scored two goals for the Stars. Mike Ribeiro and Philip Larsen also scored. Kari Lehtonen made 30 saves.

The Stars lost forward Eric Nystrom in the first period of the game.

First period

The Stars scored just 26 seconds into the game when Jamie Benn’s wrist shot from beyond the left faceoff circle eluded Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff, giving Dallas the early 1-0 lead.

But the Flames drew even, cashing in on their first power play chance of the game. Lee Stempniak set up Olli Jokinen, who roofed a shot from the slot to tie the game at the 6:53 mark.

The Stars got the next two power plays of the period, but couldn’t take advantage. Mike Ribeiro had a great chance on the first one, but Kiprusoff denied his close range backhand shot.

On the second one, Calgary’s Alex Tanguay shot high on a shorthanded breakaway.

The Flames had a second power play late in the period, but weren’t able to generate much.

The Stars lost Eric Nystrom in the period to a lower body injury. The Stars said he would be out for the rest of the game. Nystrom was injured when he was pushed into the Calgary net by Flames defenseman Mark Giordano.

Second period

Jamie Benn scored 44 seconds into the second period to put the Stars up 2-1. Benn took a pass from Adam Burish off the rush and scored off a snap shot from the slot for his second tally of the night and fourth goal in the last two games.

About 20 seconds after the goal, Flames coach Brent Sutter called a timeout to address his tea, which was out of sorts on the shift after the next goal. The Flames outscored the Stars 4-1 in the rest of the period.

The Flames bounced back to the take a 3-2 lead midway through the second, scoring twice in 45 seconds. They tied the game at the 9:16 mark when Mike Ribeiro through the puck into the slot in his own end, Flames forward Blake Comeau picked it off an blasted the puck past Kari Lehtonen.

At the 10:01 mark the Flames wAt the 10:01 mark the Flames went up 3-2 when Mike Cammalleri scored off the rebound of an Anton Babchuk shot off a Calgary faceoff win in the Stars zone.

The Flames had a couple of great chances to extend the lead, but Lehtonen stopped Scott Hannan on a breakaway and Brenden Morrow blocked a Lee Stempniak redirection attempt that was heading towards an open net.

Just 26 seconds after an apparent Stars goal was waved off because Adam Burish kicked the puck into the net, the Stars scored to tie the game. Michael Ryder put a shot on net off the rush, and off the ensuing scramble Ribeiro backhanded the puck into the net to tie the game 3-3 at 14:29 of the second.

The Flames went on their fifth power play of the game a short time later and Mark Giordano scored on a blast from the point just before it expired to give Calgary a 4-3 lead with 3:02 left in the second.

The Flames went on their sixth power play with 1:33 left in the period and struck again to take a 5-3 lead. After a rim around the boards attempt by the Flames bounced off Stars defenseman Trevor Daley, Cammalleri set up Alex Tanguay, who scored from the slot with 28 seconds left in the period.

Third period

The Stars went on their fourth power play of the night early in the third and scored to make it a 5-4 game. After Sheldon Souray put a shot on net from the point, Philip Larsen got the rebound roofed a backhand shot from close range at the 5:24 mark.

The Stars had some chances to tie, including a Loui Eriksson breakaway, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

Stars beat Flames, 4-1

The Dallas Stars picked up two big points Saturday afternoon, beating the Calgary Flames 4-1 at American Airlines Center.

The win pushed the Stars back into first place in the Pacific Division and into the third seed in the Western Conference. Whether they’ll be there Sunday morning will depend on the results of games later tonight.

Kari Lehtonen stopped 35 shots, including all 29 he faced over the final two periods.

Jamie Benn scored twice for Dallas, which also got goals from Michael Ryder and Brenden Morrow.

The Stars and Flames meet again Monday in Calgary.

First period

The Stars took a 1-0 lead 1:37 into the game when Jamie Benn scored off a wrap-around.

The Flames came close to a tying the game three minutes in, but a Blake Comeau shot from the slot hit the post.

Calgary went on the game’s first power play a the 4:39 mark, couldn’t take advantage and a short time later the Stars extended their lead to 2-0.

Off the rush, Mike Ribeiro set up Michael Ryder, who beat Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff with a shot from the right circle at the 7:17 mark.

The Flames got on the scoreboard at the 12:27 mark of the first. After Stars forward Radek Dvorak’s stick broke, the Flames pinned the Stars in their own zone and Mike Cammalleri scored off a one-timer from the right circle.

The Stars were 0-2 on the power play in the period and the Flames were 0-1.

Second period

Kari Lehtonen was sharp in net stopping all 14 shots in the period to help the Stars hold their 2-1 lead despite beating outshot 14-6.

Calgary had the only power play of the period, but failed to generate much.

There was a big scrum with 10.8 seconds left in the period involving Calgary’s Jarome Iginla and Dallas’ Sheldon Souray and Calgary’s Giordano and Dallas’ Mike Ribeiro. The Stars ended up with one extra roughing minor and Calgary had 1:50 of power play time when the period ended.

Third period

The Flames were unable to cash in on their 1:50 of power play to open the third period, and the Stars remained up 2-1.

Lehtonen came up with a big save with the two teams playing at even strength, stopping a Cammalleri backhand shot 4:33 into the period.

The Flames had a power play, their fourth of the game, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

The Stars made it a 3-1 game with 3:33 left in the game when Steve Ott got to a loose puck in the corner and set up Benn, who beat Kiprusoff with a blast from the right circle.

Brenden Morrow scored into an empty let with 1:28 remaining to make it a 4-1 game.

Canucks top Stars, 2-1

The Dallas Stars lost for the third time in the last four games, falling 2-1 to the Vancouver Canucks at American Airlines Center on Thursday night. Cory Schneider stopped 25 of 26 shots for the Canucks, for who got a first-period goal from Mason Raymond and a third-period goal from Kevin Bieksa. Vernon Fiddler scored the lone goal for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen stopped 27 of 28 shots for the Stars.

First period

The Stars had a couple of early chances, but Canucks goalie Cory Schneider made nice stops on a Mike Ribeiro redirection and a Loui Eriksson shot from the slot.

Vancouver got on the board at the 4:46 mark when Henrik Sedin sent the puck from the right boards and Dan Hamhuis tipped it to Mason Raymond, who scored from close range to give the Canucks the early lead.

Stars forward Jake Dowell and Canucks forward Dan Weise dropped the gloves midway through the period.

Schneider came up with a couple more quality stops to keep the Stars off the scoreboard, denying Alex Goligoski and Michael Ryder.

The Canucks got the first power play of the game late in the period, but couldn’t take advantage.

Second period

The Stars had a power play five minutes into the second period, but failed to get a shot on goal.

Cory Schneider continued to be sharp in net for the Canucks, making a nice save on a close range backhand shot by Stars center Tom Wandell midway through the period.

The Canucks got their second power play of the game with 9:28 left in the period, but weren’t able to cash in.

Mike Ribeiro got a breakaway coming out of the penalty box, was hooked and was awarded a penalty shot, but Schneider stopped his attempt to keep it a 1-0 game.

The Canucks went on power play number three when Ribeiro took a slashing penalty. Stephane Robidas then took a hooking penalty, giving the Canucks a five-on-three power play for 1:06. But Alex Burrows took a holding penalty taking the Canucks off the two-man advantage.

The Stars ended up with an abbreviated power play, their second of the game, but failed to scored.

Third period

The Canucks extended their lead to 2-0 at the 4:19 mark of the third. Mason Raymond hit defenseman Kevin Bieksa in the slot and Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped the initial shot, but Bieksa scored on the rebound.

The Stars got on the board with 12:16 left in the game when Schneider came out the net to handle the puck, had it hop over his stick and a diving Vernon Fiddler poked it into the empty net to make it a 2-1 game.

Less than a minute later, Lehtonen came out of the net to play the puck and Canucks forward Samuel Pahlsson just missed scoring into an empty net, hitting the post from the right boards.

The Stars pulled Lehtonen with just over one minute remaining and then got a power play with 44.9 seconds left, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

The Dallas Stars held on to first place in the Pacific Division with a 4-3 shootout win over the Phoenix Coyotes at American Airlines Center on Tuesday night.

The Stars hold a one point lead over the Coyotes in the division race and will hold a one point lead over the winner of tonight’s San Jose-Los Angeles game as well.

The Stars had a 3-1 lead going into the third period, but the Coyotes scored a shorthanded goal and a power-play goal to tie the game and force overtime.

The Stars’ top line of Loui Eriksson, Mike Ribeiro and Michael Ryder combined for three goals and six assists. Ryder had two goals, one assist, Eriksson had one goal and two assists and Ribeiro had three assists.

Ribeiro also scored the lone goal of the shootout. Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves and stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout.

First period

The Stars scored 2:12 into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Off the rush, Loui Eriksson roofed a shot over Coyotes goalie Mike Smith from the bottom of the right faceoff circle.

The Coyotes answered at the 5:14 mark when Ray Whitney sent a pass from the corner to Lauri Korpikoski, who beat Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen with a blast from the slot.

The Coyotes had two power play chances in the period, but couldn’t take advantage.

Stars close to scoring again, but a Michael Ryder shot from the slot hit the post.

Shots were 9-5 in favor of Phoenix.

Second period

The Stars had a good chance early in the second, but Mike Smith stopped Vernon Fiddler’s close range backhand shot off an odd-man rush.

Smith had another nice save on Michael Ryder with just under 16 minutes to go and then made a spectacular glove save on a glove save on Loui Eriksson less than 30 seconds later.

The Stars got their first power play of the game at the 4:43 mark of the second and quickly cashed in. Loui Eriksson sent the puck across the crease to Michael Ryder, who one-timed it past Smith to give the Stars a 2-1 lead at the 5:26 mark.

There was a major scrum less than a minute later after Coyotes captain Shane Doan hit Stars forward Jamie Benn in the head with an elbow. Stars captain Brenden Morrow went after Doan with each getting five minutes for fighting, and Doan picking up an elbowing minor for the hit on Benn. There were also a series of roughing penalties and ten-misconducts to both teams, and the Stars ended up with a power play. Benn was shaken up by the hit, but returned to the game.

Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen came up with a big stop with just seven minutes left in the period, denying a Antoine Vermette shot from the left circle with Phoenix on the rush.

The Stars extended their lead to 3-1 with 5:18 left when Eriksson took a pass from Mike Ribeiro and chipped a puck on net off the rush and Ryder got to the puck in the crease and tapped it into the net for his second goal of the night and 32nd of the season.

Third period

The Stars announced at the beginning of the period that defenseman Mark Fistric was out for the rest of the game with an upper body injury.

The Stars had their third and fourth power plays of the game in the first half of the third period, but the Coyotes scored shorthanded on the second to make it a 3-2 game. Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson took a pass from Daymond Langkow off the rush and scored from the right circle at the 8:51 mark.

Phoenix went on its fourth power play of the game with 5:30 left when the Stars were called for too many men on the ice, and the Coyotes scored 28 seconds when Ray Whitney scored off the rush, beating Lehtonen with a shot from the left circle with 5:02 left in regulation.

Overtime/Shootout

The Stars lost Benn in the overtime after a violent collision in the corner in the Coyotes defensive zone, but he was back on the bench at the end of the game.

Lehtonen came up with a spectacular save on Ekman-Larsson with 1:44 left in the overtime, stacking his pads on a shot from the left circle to get the game to a shootout.

Ribeiro scored the lone goal of the shootout and Lehtonen stopped all three Phoenix shooters.

Blackhawks down Stars, 4-1

The Dallas Stars opened a key four-game homestand with a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks at American Airlines Center on Friday night. The Blackhawks scored 10 seconds into the game and never looked back, scoring another goal 1:42 into the game to build an early 2-0 lead.

Jamie Benn scored the lone goal for Dallas, which lost its second straight game and saw a four-game winnings streak at home come to an end.

Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 31 shots.

The Stars did not have a power play for the second straight game.

Patrick Sharp scored two goals for Blackhawks, who pulled three points ahead of the Stars.

First period

The Blackhawks struck just 10 seconds into the game as Dave Bolland beat Kari Lehtonen with a shot from the slot.

The Blackhawks made it a 2-0 game at the 1:42 mark when Patrick Shark ripped a shot by Lehtonen from the left circle.

The Blackhawks had the first power play of the game, but failed to cash in on it. They got a four minute power play after Michael Ryder was given a double minor for high sticking Marian Hossa, but that one lasted only 90 seconds after Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith was called for interference.

Chicago had a 12-5 shots advantage through the first period.

Second period

The Stars outshot the Blackhawks 11-6 in the second period and had some good offensive pressure at times, but couldn’t get a puck past Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford, who had some nice saves, including a couple of saves on close range bids by Loui Eriksson with just under four minutes left in the period.

Third period

Chicago blew the game open with two goals in the first 1:45 of the third period. The Blackhawks made it a 3-0 game when Marian Hossa’s shot from the right point deflected off the stick of Stars defenseman Adam Pardy and past Lehtonen 33 seconds into the period.

Just 1:12 later the Stars coughed up the puck and Sharp scored his second of the night, putting home a shot from the slot to put the Blackhawks up 4-0.

The Stars got on the board with 5:50 remaining when Jamie Benn slipped a puck past Crawford to make it a 4-1 game.

The Dallas Stars’ winning streak ended at six and their points streak ended at 11 with a 5-2 loss at Winnipeg on Wednesday night. The Stars also had a six-game road winning streak snapped.

The Stars lost for the first time in regulation since a 3-2 loss to Nashville on February 19. The Stars fell to 1-10-2 in the second game of back-to-backs this season.

Loui Eriksson scored both goals for the Stars, his 24th and 25th of the season. Richard Bachman stopped 23 of 28 shots.

The Stars lost defenseman Philip Larsen to a lower body injury in the game.

First period

Winnipeg came out with some early pressure and scored 2:21 into the game to take a 1-0 lead.

Antti Miettinen dug the puck out of the corner and set up Nik Antropov, who scored on Richard Bachman from the left circle.

The Stars had some good chances, but Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec made a nice pad save on Jamie Benn and a blocker save on a point shot by Stephane Robidas.

The shots were 10-9 in favor of Winnipeg in the first. There were no power plays.

The Stars lost defenseman Philip Larsen in the period and he went into the boards feet first while trying to defend Winnipeg forward Blake Wheeler. He returned for one shift late in the second period, but did not return for the third period.

Second period

The Jets scored four times in the third period to blow the game open.

The first goal came at the 1:19 mark. After an Alexander Burmistrov shot rebounded off Richard Bachman’s mask, Evander Kane put the rebound into the net to give Winnipeg a 2-0 lead.

The Jets made it a 3-0 at the 8:28 mark when Eric Fehr blocked an Adam Pardy shot at the right point, chipped the puck past Stars defenseman, broke in down the right wing and beat Bachman with a slap shot from the right circle.

Andrew Ladd made it 4-0 when banged home a rebound at the 9:15 mark.

Winnipeg scored on its second power play of the night to make it 5-0. Dustin Byfuglien scored on a wrist shot from the right point at the 16:12 mark.

Just 27 seconds later the Stars finally got on the board when Mike Ribeiro set up Loui Eriksson, who scored from close range.

Third period

Eriksson scored with 3:44 left in the game off a nice set up by Michael Ryder to round out the scoring in the game.

There was a scrum with 2:47 left in the game. Adam Burish picked up a unsportsmanlike conduct minor and game misconduct after he threw one of the Winnipeg player's gloves into the stands and Winnipeg’s Tanner Glass was given a roughing minor and ten minute misconduct for going after Burish. Stars forward Vernon Fiddler also picked up a ten minute misconduct.

Stars top Wild for sixth straight win

The Dallas Stars ran their winning streak to six games and their points streak to 11 (10-0-1) with a 1-0 victory at Minnesota on Tuesday night. Kari Lehtonen stopped 25 shots for his second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season. Jamie Benn scored the lone goal for the Stars, who won their sixth straight game on the road.

First period

The Stars outshot the Wild 10-8 in the first period, but there weren’t a lot of quality chances. Wild goalie Matt Hackett had nice stops on a close-range bid by Adam Pardy and stopped a close-in rebound attempt by Michael Ryder.

The Wild had the period’s only power play, and Lehtonen made a great save on a Dany Heatley shot from the top of the crease.

Second period

Both teams had nine shots in the second period, but again no scoring. Both goaltenders had sharp saves in the second.

Lehtonen made a nice stop on Erik Christensen and then Kyle Brodziak’s rebound attempt.

Hackett had key saves on Tom Wandell, Mike Ribeiro and Loui Eriksson.

Both teams were 0-2 on the power play, and there was a lot of four-on-four play in the period, as well.

Third period

The Stars killed off a 1:18 Wild power play early in the second and then scored the game’s only goal at even strength.

Off the rush, Brenden Morrow set up Jamie Benn, who roofed a shot over Hackett at the 3:46 mark of the second period.

Lehtonen stopped eight shots in the third, none bigger than a save on a point blank shot Brodziak with 3.2 seconds remaining in the game.

The Dallas Stars ran their winning streak to five games and their points streak to 10 games (9-0-1) with a 2-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at American Airlines Center Saturday night. Kari Lehtonen stopped 21 shots for his third shutout of the season and Brenden Morrow and Michael Ryder scored goals.

First period

The Ducks had an 8-6 shots advantage in the first period, but the Stars had some good chances. An Adam Burish backhand chance was turned away by Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller. The Anaheim goalie also made a nice stop on a point blank chance by Loui Eriksson. Steve Ott had a great chance from the left circle late in the period, but his shot hit the post.

There were no power plays in the period.

Second period

Special teams were big in the second period. The Stars went 1-3 on the power play and the Ducks went -0-2.

The Stars opened the scoring early in the second period, taking advantage of back-to-back penalties on the Ducks. Just as a 35 second five-on-three power play expired, Jamie Benn sent a cross-crease pass to Brenden Morrow who put the puck into the open side of the net at the 2:37 mark.

The Ducks had a couple of power play chances, but were unable to take advantage.

The Stars outshot the Ducks 9-6 in the second and had a 15-14 advantage going into the second intermission.

Third period

The Ducks had their third power play chance of the night five minutes into the third, but got only one shot on goal.

Lehtonen had a nice stop later in the period on a Niklas Hagman close range bid with the two teams playing at even-strength.

The Ducks went on a fourth power play with 5:16 remaining, but it lasted only five seconds as Teemu Selanne was called for holding on the right off the faceoff.

Hiller kept the Ducks close, making great stops on Loui Eriksson, Vernon Fiddler and Eric Nystrom, but with Hiller out for the extra attacker Michael Ryder scored into the empty net with 46 seconds left to give the Stars a 2-0 lead.

The Dallas Stars ran their points streak to nine games (8-0-1) with a 4-3 shootout win over the San Jose Sharks Thursday night at American Airlines Center. The win gave the Stars a four point lead over the Sharks in the Western Conference standings.

Kari Lehtonen made 45 shots and stopped all five shots he faced in the shootout. Tomas Vincour scored the game-tying goal with 1:15 left in regulation and then scored the lone goal of the shootout. Michael Ryder and Jamie Benn also scored for the Stars.

First period

The San Jose Sharks outshot the Stars 16-8 in the first period, but there was no scoring. The Stars had a 7-3 shots advantage through the first 12 minutes, but San Jose outshot the Stars 13-1 over the final eight minutes of the period.

Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen was sharp. His best save came on a Patrick Marleau bid from the slot with San Jose on the power play.

Stars forward Loui Eriksson came close with just over 11 minutes left in the period, but his shot grazed the outside of the post.

Both teams had one power play chance in the period.

Stars forward Steve Ott missed tonight’s game due to back spasms.

Second period

The Stars broke the scoreless tie with 7:43 left in the second period. Just moments after Kari Lehtonen made a big stop on Ryane Clowe, the Stars headed the other way and Jake Dowell set up Michael Ryder, who busted in on the San Jose goal and beat Sharks goalie Antti Niemi.

The Sharks had their second power play of the game late in the period, but couldn’t cash in.

They did tie the game 0.4 seconds left in the period when Torrey Mitchell scored a slick goal, using a forehand to backhand move to slip by Alex Goligoski before beating Kari Lehtonen with a backhand shot.

The Sharks outshot the Stars 14-9 in the second period and had a 30-17 advantage through 40 minutes.

Third period

The Sharks scored just 25 seconds into the third to take a 2-1 lead. Joe Thornton sent a pass from behind the goal line to Patrick Marleau, who skated from the right circle to the slot and beat Lehtonen with a wrist shot.

The Stars had a couple of chances to quickly tie the game, but Niemi made back-to-back stops on Dowell and Tomas Vincour, and Alex Goligoski had a shot go off the post.

Lehtonen came up big a short time later, stopping an Andrew Desjardins bid from the slot to keep it a 2-1 game.

The Stars got the equalizer at 6:42 of the third as Jamie Benn led a rush from deep in the Dallas end and then took a pass from Adam Burish at the other end and slid the puck past Niemi.

The Sharks took the lead with 3:32 remaining when Joe Pavelski knocked home the rebound of a Dan Boyle shot.

The Stars tied the game with 1:15 remaining when Tomas Vincour scored off a scramble in front of the net.

OT/Shootout

The Stars had a couple of good chances early in OT. Mike Ribeiro had a breakaway, but Marleau tracked him down and broke up the scoring chances. Niemi stopped a Loui Eriksson shot from the slot.

The Sharks went on a power play with 2:23 left in overtime when Michael Ryder was called for holding, but the Stars were able to kill it off.

The Dallas Stars ran their points streak to eight games (7-0-1) with a 5-2 win at Vancouver on Tuesday night. The Stars, who wrapped up their Western Canada road trip with a 3-0-0 record, have won five straight on the road and are 7-1-2 in their last ten games overall. The victory kept the Stars atop the Pacific Division.

The Stars’ top line came up big again. Mike Ribeiro had two goals and one assist, Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist and Michael Ryder chipped in two assists. Jamie Benn and Stephane Robidas also scored for the Stars. Richard Bachman stopped 29 of 31 shots

First period

There was no scoring in the first, but there were chances. Vancouver’s Zach Kassian got a penalty shot just 24 seconds into the game after he was hooked by Mark Fistric, but lost control of the puck and never got a shot off.

Stars forward Jamie Benn had a couple chances late, just missing on an open net and then getting stopped by Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo on another.

Both teams had seven seconds of power play time in the period.

Vancouver had a 10-5 shots advantage.

The Stars lost defenseman Trevor Daley in the period. He was got twisted around during a scramble in front of the Dallas net and then Canucks forward Alex Burrows fell on top of him. Daley returned to start the second period.

Second period

The Canucks took a 1-0 lead at the 6:45 mark of the second period when Chris Higgins scored off the rush, beating Richard Bachman with a shot from the right circle.

But the Stars bounced back with two goals late in the period. The first one came on the Stars’ second power play of the night. Trevor Daley, who was injured in the first but returned to start the second period, centered the puck and in went in the net off the skate of Stars forward Loui Eriksson to tie the game 1-1 at the 16:44 mark.

The Stars took a 2-1 lead with 23 seconds left when Mike Ribeiro scored on a two-on-one, roofing a shot over Roberto Luongo from close range.

Third period

After both teams had chances early in the period, the Stars extended their lead to 3-1 on at the 4:25 mark. Following a Canucks turnover, Steve Ott set up Benn, who beat Luongo with a shot from the left circle.

Vancouver made it a 3-2 game at the 7:55 mark when Canucks Alex Edler skated into the Dallas zone and put a shot on net that appeared to hit a stick and went over the shoulder of Bachman.

But the Stars extended the lead again less than four minutes later. Michael Ryder slipped by Daniel Sedin along the right boards and then made a slick centering pass that was tipped into the net by Ribeiro to make it a 4-2 game with 8:49 remaining.

Stephane Robidas rounded out the scoring with a late empty net goal.
