ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun has some trade deadline items related to the Dallas Stars. GM Joe Nieuwendyk told LeBrun time will tell how the Stars approach the trade deadline. Obviously, how the Stars do over next few weeks will dictate the plan moving forward.
"I think it’s a little early yet," Nieuwendyk said. "I think all these teams will have a better idea in a few weeks depending on how things shake out. There’s a lot of tire-kicking going on, but we’ll have to see how things work out."
LeBrun also has a brief item on Stars defenseman Nicklas Grossman, who will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Grossman could spark interest if the Stars don't sign him to an extension prior to the deadline, which is Feb. 27. You can read the latest from LeBrun here.

The Dallas Stars broadcast team won a Lone Star Emmy for its coverage of last season's opening game, when Mike Modano returned to Dallas as a member of the Detroit Red Wings.

Here's an excerpt from the Fox Sports Southwest release:
For the ninth consecutive year since the inception of the statewide award, FOX Sports Southwest took home the Emmy for Best Live Sports Event for the 2010 Dallas Stars home opener against the Detroit Red Wings.
The game featured the much-anticipated return to Dallas of Mike Modano, the face of the Stars’ franchise for 20 years, who was playing one final season for the Stars’ biggest rival, the Detroit Red Wings. Producer Jason Walsh and director Mark Vittorio balanced the emotional storyline of Modano’s first game back on Dallas ice in a Red Wings jersey by reliving the Stars’ past, while looking ahead to the team’s future.
It marked the third time a FOX Sports Southwest Stars game won an Emmy for Best Live Sports Event, joining Game 6 of the 2008 NHL Western Conference Semifinal series quadruple overtime victory over the San Jose Sharks, and Game 5 of the 2003 Stars-Edmonton Oilers Western Conference quarterfinals.
