As a sophomore at Boston University, Chiasson led the Terriers in scoring with 34 points (14 goals, 20 assists) in 35 games. He doubled his goal production from his freshman season and almost doubled his point production.

He ranked ninth in conference scoring, registering 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) in 26 Hockey East games. Chiasson ranked second in the conference and tenth nationally with five game-winning goals.

“Chiasson is really coming on,” said Les Jackson, Stars Director of Scouting and Player Development. “He probably could have turned pro this year, but for his development he made the best choice. We didn’t push him to come out at all. He’s in the right place. He gets all kind of ice time.”

Boston University had the 20-year-old Chiasson, a Quebec native, listed at 6-4, 195 pounds. He has good size and skill and his projected as a power forward.

“He’s got NHL attributes all the way. I think there are two things he is going to continue to work on – his overall strength, his leg strength and that will help his skating,” said Jackson. “He’s got really good hands, he competes and shoots the puck like a top player. I think he’s made excellent strides. He’s a real good prospect for us.”

The Hockey News’ Future Watch 2011 had Chiasson ranked as the Stars’ 2nd best prospect and 55th among all NHL prospects.

He’s expected to play again at Boston University in 2011-12.
