Dallas Stars prospects: Notes and Stats

Here’s an update on Dallas Stars prospects Matt Fraser and Hubert Labrie, who both are trying to help their teams win league championships in Canadian juniors and earn a trip to the Memorial Cup.

*Fraser scored at 13:08 of overtime to give Kootenay at 5-4 victory over Portland Wednesday night and a 3-1 lead in the Western Hockey League championship series. Game 5 of the series is Friday night in Portland. Fraser, a left wing, has 24 points (15 goals, 9 assists) in 18 games. His 15 goals are tied for the lead in the WHL playoffs and his 24 points rank eighth. Fraser, who turns 21 next week, was signed as a free agent by the Stars in November 2010.

*Labrie’s Gatineau Olympiques lost 4-3 in double overtime to St. John Wednesday night and now trail 3-1 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League President’s Cup series 3-1. Game 5 is Friday at St. John. Labrie, a defenseman, has 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 22 games and leads the QMJHL playoffs with a plus-18 rating. Labrie, 19, was signed as a free agent by the Stars in September 2009.
