Brad Richards had a message to Dallas Stars fans via his Twitter account (@BRichards_1991), posting this brief note Saturday night:
Thanks to all the fans in Dallas for 3 great years. Will miss everyone... Gonna take a rest from twitter For a bit.... Chat soon
As you know, it was made official Thursday that the Stars and Richards would be parting ways and that he would be hitting the free agent market on July 1.
While the New York Rangers are getting a lot of attention as a possible destination for Richards, ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun tossed out another possible suitor Saturday night.
The Detroit Red Wings, meanwhile, are an intriguing team that has some interest in Richards, but only for a short-term and cap-friendly deal. The pitch from Detroit would be to come and win a Cup. Richards will certainly be fielding more lucrative offers in terms of term and money.
More from LeBrun here.
Meanwhile, Richards isn’t ruling a return to Tampa Bay, where he started his career and won a Stanley Cup in 2004.
"I never really wanted to leave Tampa," Richards told the St. Petersburg Times. "So, obviously, on July 1, if they talk to me, it's going to be something I'll listen to because of my history there."
