Stars select RW Brett Ritchie in 2nd round

June, 25, 2011
The Stars used their 2nd round pick (44th overall) to take right wing Brett Ritchie from the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League. He's 6-3, 210 pounds. He had 21 goals and 20 assists in 49 games. He missed time due to mononucleosis.

Stars scout Jimmy Johnston had this to say about Ritchie: "Brett is a big strong winger. He has good hands, shoots the puck well and goes to the net. He has a lot of upside; he will dig in at the walls and works hard."
