The Dallas Stars ran their record to 3-0-0 in the preseason with a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Saturday night at American Airlines Center. Michael Ryder, Matt Fraser and Raymond Sawada scored goals for Dallas.

Kari Lehtonen (11-11) and Andrew Raycroft (18-20) combined to stop 29 of 31 shot in the game.

"I thought [Lehtonen] was really good and made some big saves," said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. "I thought Razor made some huge saves for us, too. At the end of the day we are getting the goaltending we need."

The Stars opened the scoring at 10:31 of the first, cashing in on their second power play of the game. Loui Eriksson slid a pass across the crease to Ryder, who scored off a one-timer from the bottom of the left circle.

Lehtonen kept it a 1-0 game when he stopped Patrik Berglund on a breakaway.

Fraser made it a 2-0 game at 10:15 of the second, knocking in the rebound of a Vernon Fiddler shot for his second goal of the preseason.

"Fiddler made the great play to bring the the puck to the net and I was just hanging out at the side of the net," said Fraser. "He threw it off the pad and I just whacked it in."

St. Louis’ Andy McDonald scored from the right circle at 11:52 of the second to cut the Dallas lead to 2-1.

Sawada scored from the slot 2:10 into the third period to give Dallas a 3-1 lead.

Alex Steen scored for the Blues with 22.9 seconds left to make it a 3-2 game.

The Stars continue preseason play with a game at Colorado Sunday evening.

Quotable

“Our game’s coming together, so we’re happy with that. The players that we’ve had in camp here have kind of really bought in. There’s always going to be wrinkles and room for improvement, but I like the way our game is coming together. The biggest thing is whether the guys buy in or not and they’re in.You can tell in practice that they're going. We just have to believe, have some success, and then they’ll be full in.” - Stars coach Glen Gulutzan
