Tuesday update: Preparing the for Caps

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said it doesn’t take rocket science to figure out what the Dallas Stars have to do against the Capitals in Washington tonight.

“They average four goals a game and they’ve got a 25 percent power play, so what that does that tell you? Stay out of the box and don’t get in a track meet,” Gulutzan said. “We know what we have to do here as a group. We’re going to come out here and play hard.”

Mark Fistric will play a second consecutive game and Adam Pardy will be the odd-man out on defense for a second straight game.

“He’s played well enough to play in, go back-to-back and just not come in on spot duty,” Gulutzan said. “Every time he’s come in he’s played solid games. We’re going to reward a guy that’s played well. I think you have to do that. It’s nothing with Pards. We’ve got good D and we want to keep guys engaged.”

At forward, Jake Dowell comes back into the lineup and Krys Barch will be the scratch. Steve Ott will miss his third straight game with a hip injury.

Kari Lehtonen is in goal for the Stars. Michal Neuvirth gets the nod in goal for the Caps.
