Here are some quotes from the Dallas Stars after they fell 4-3 in a shootout to the Toronto Maple Leafs at American Airlines Center Friday night.
Stars coach Glen Gulutzan
“I thought we played real hard. I don’t think we started as good as we have in the past. We put some shots on net, but they had a good transition game and few too many odd-man rushes. But as we settled in and got into our rhythm, I thought the second was a very good period for us and the back half of that third we were good too. We made a couple of errors in our system, in our structure and it cost us two goals. We’ve to got reinforce that, clean it up and hopefully it doesn’t happen for another ten games.”
Stars forward Eric Nystrom
“That was a lot of fun. It was a great atmosphere. Those Leafs fans brought energy in the building, battling against our fans. It was a lot of fun. But when it comes down to a shootout, it comes down to chance. It’s not about the team, it’s about individuals. You take those with a grain of salt, but we played really hard tonight and did a lot of good things. We’ve got to continue to do that.”
Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen
“I thought that we played very well, but I felt I didn’t have a really good night. I let in too many goals with only about 20 shots. We had the better chances, but their goalie played very well. When you go to the shootout you never know what’s going to happen - they have good shooters, we have good shooters. It’s good that we got one point, but I wasn’t happy with the way I played.”
