About the Stars
The Stars (23-16-1) won their second straight game and third in the last four, defeating Edmonton 4-1 at American Airlines Center Saturday afternoon. Jamie Benn and Mike Ribeiro each scored two goals for the Stars.
“It’s playing well defensively, when you do that, it helps offensively - you create turnovers and it’s been a focus,” said Ribeiro. “Pass the puck hard, finish your checks, but just outwork the other teams.”
Kari Lehtonen, who did not start Saturday due to the flu, practiced Monday and should be ready for Tuesday’s game.
About the Ducks
The Ducks (12-22-6) won their second straight game, defeating Columbus 7-4 in Anaheim on Sunday. The Ducks lost goalie Jonas Hiller to a lower body injury midway through the game and Iiro Tarkki, making his NHL debut, finished the game and earned the win.
"Of course I was a little bit nervous when I heard that I was going in. I didn't expect this to happen so fast. It's pretty amazing," Tarkki said. "I didn't have much time to think."
Hiller is questionable for Tuesday’s game and if he can’t go then Tarkki will get his first NHL start.
Injuries: G Jonas Hiller (lower body) is questionable. G Dan Ellis (groin), RW George Parros (groin), D Matt Smaby (thumb) and RW Devante Smith-Pelly (foot) are out. F Jean-Francois Jacques (suspension) is out.
