About the Stars

The Stars (24-17-1) are coming off a 5-4 shootout win at Los Angeles Thursday. The Stars lost leads of 2-0 and 3-1 in the game, but then scored a late power play goal with 5:25 left to force overtime. Loui Eriksson scored two goals, including the game-tying tally, and then scored the lone goal of the shootout.

“Of course it was an important win for us. It’s always a tight game against L.A. I thought we came back there pretty good and finally won the game. It was two big points for us,” said Eriksson. “It was really intense out there. We took too many penalties, but we found a way to stick with it.”

Kari Lehtonen made 37 saves and then stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout for his 16th win of the season.

Injuries: C Mike Ribeiro (knee), D Philip Larsen (concussion) and RW Tomas Vincour (knee) are out.

About the Avalanche

The Avalanche (23-20-2) lost 3-2 in overtime at Nashville Thursday night. The Avalanche led 2-0 after the first period, but Nashville scored one in the second and one in the third before winning the game34 seconds into the extra period.

"Instead of us forcing the issue and playing more in their face, we started to sit back a little bit, and that's what happens when you play on your heels," Avalanche coach Joe Sacco said of his team losing the two-goal lead. “It was a point, which we obviously needed in the standings, but I certainly think we could have been a lot better.”

Colorado center Peter Mueller returned to the lineup after missing 40 games with a head injury.

Injuries: C Matt Duchene (knee) and D Shane O’Brien (knee) are out.
