DALLAS -- Robert Black, a 60-year-old in the oil and gas business, proudly left American Airlines Center on Thursday clutching the jersey Mike Modano wore as he skated off the ice for possibly the final time.
Black purchased the jersey at an auction with the money going to the Dallas Stars Foundation. It was part of the final game festivities where each player took the jersey off their backs and gave it to a fan.
Black didn't want to say how much he paid for the jersey, but was quick to add it was worth every penny.
"It was probably my best hockey game ever, without a doubt," Black said. "It was very special to me. I lost my mother yesterday, so it was very emotional for me as I know it was for Mike. I feel like I shared something with him."
Black said he is going to frame the jersey.
