About the Stars

The Stars (33-26-5) had a four-game winning streak snapped, but picked up an important point in a 4-3 shootout loss to Pittsburgh at American Airlines Center on Wednesday.

“I just thought it was a really good hockey game,” Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said. “I thought both teams played hard and well. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the extra point.”

The Stars, who went 2-0-1 on their three-game homestand, play their next three games on the road.

The Stars ended the month of February, in which they played 16 games in 29 days, with an 8-5-3 record.

Kari Lehtonen will start in goal for Dallas.

Injuries: LW Jake Dowell (finger) and LW Brenden Morrow (neck/back) are out.

About the Oilers

The Oilers (26-32-5) are coming off a 5-2 loss to St. Louis in Edmonton on Wednesday. The Oilers were down 3-0 by the 7:34 mark of the second period.

“We certainly pushed our way back in the game and good for us,” said Oilers coach Tom Renney. “But there are two levels of teams out there, St. Louis and then there is us. We did everything we could to latch on to where they were headed and play with them and we came awfully close, but then I thought we beat ourselves.”

Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who has not played since February 19 due to a groin injury, could be ready to go Friday against the Stars.

Injuries: G Nikolai Khabibulin (groin) is probable. D Theo Peckham (sinus) is questionable. D Taylor Fedun (leg) is out.
