Source: Lehtonen close to 3-year extension

The Stars are closing in on a three-year deal with goalie Kari Lehtonen for about an average of $3.5 million per season.

It's a clear signal that the Stars believe Lehtonen can be a No. 1 goalie into the future.

Dallas simply needed to give him a qualifying offer for $3 million (what he made last season), but have decided to lock him up longer term. Here's the full story on the web.
