ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Michael Young said since he's made his fulltime home in Dallas, he's become a big fan of the area's sports teams. That includes the Stars and Mike Modano.

"It's going to be real unusual not to see Mo in a Stars uniform," Young said. "His contributions to the Stars have been off the charts. The fans recognize what he's done. At the end of the day, every organization is going to do what they feel is in the best interest of their team. That's just the nature of the business. It's sad to see him go, but just like any other fan, I'll remember his accomplishments."

Young can identify with Modano in that he's the face of his franchise. He doesn't have the longevity, but he'd like to, saying his goal is to play his whole career with the same team. Young has been in the majors with the Rangers since 2001.

"I can't predict what's going to happen years from now," Young said. "I think the best way any athlete can really focus on their job is to really bear down in the present because you don't know what's going happen down the road. In may case, I'd love to finish my career in this uniform, but at the same time, I'm not going to short change my teammates by thinking about that right now. I'm thinking about what we have to do in the present."
