Ilya Kovalchuk has made up his mind. He's going back to New Jersey. A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday. The official announcement is on the Devils' officicontract breakdown hereal site and you can read it here.

It's said to be a 17-year deal for slightly more than $100 million, according to ESPN.com's Scott Burnside.

Update: It's $102 million over 17 years. Capgeek.com has the contract breakdown here. Note that the contract calls for Kovalchuk to get paid $550,000 in each of the last five years of the deal.

That helps keep the cap hit down to a reasonable $6 million even though the Devils will be paying him $11.5 million from 2012-13 through 20016-17 and then $10.5 million in 20017-18.
