Here are a few notes on Mike Modano, who will be introduced as the newest member of the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

*Modano told the Associated Press he has settled on which number he will wear next season when he suits up for Red Wings.

"I've worn No. 9 since I was about 9, but I wasn't about to ask Gordie to take his number out of the rafters for me," Modano told the AP Thursday night. "I'm going to wear No. 90 for the Wings."

*Modano's contract is a one-year deal for $1.25 million, but he has the potential to earn an additional $500,000 in bonuses, according to CapGeek.com. That gives Modano a cap hit of $1.75 million.

GapGeek.com, which provides details on the contracts of NHL players, said Modano's bonuses include:
  • $150,000 for 40 games played
  • $100,000 for 55 games played
  • $125,000 for round 1 playoff win
  • $125,000 for round 2 playoff win
