The Dallas Stars are down 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Lightning after one period at the American Airlines Center in the preseason opener for both teams.

Adam Hall scored the only goal of the period, scoring off a rebound during a scramble in front of Stars goalie Andrew Raycroft 4:44 into the game.

The Stars' best scoring chance came on a power play, but a point blank chance by Brenden Morrow was turned away by Bolts goalie Dan Ellis.

Tampa Bay has a 10-7 shots advantage through 20 minutes.

There were three fights in the period. The best one came 1:30 into the game when Brian Sutherby dropped the gloves with Matt Smaby and tagged the Lighting defenseman with a hard right to the side of the head.
