Former Stars coach Ken Hitchcock was fired on Wednesday by the Columbus Blue Jackets. I'm not too surprised. Columbus has really struggled and the easiest way to change things is to fire the coach. That happens all too often in hockey.

I know some of you think the Stars should re-hire him. Let's not go crazy, folks. Marc Crawford is in his first season and is teaching his system. It's one that is a different philosophy than that of the defensive-minded Hitchcock. Learning the system takes time. Not to mention that the team is likely to look different next year, which could certainly alter the results. Stay patient.

I do find it interesting that this firing occurs the day before the Stars face Columbus. That should be a fun game to watch on Thursday and I would expect the Blue Jackets will come out hungry and motivated. The Stars better be ready.
