Rangers pitcher Derek Holland considers himself a big Stars fan.
"Hockey is my offseason," Holland said. "I just love it."
Holland said he followed Mike Modano for a long time and then really became a Stars fan when he became a part of the Rangers organization.
"I cheer for all of the local teams," Holland said. "I really love the BlueJackets. That's where I grew up and where I got to see the most hockey. I didn't really get into it until 2000 when the BlueJackets made it. That's when I fell in love with hockey."
Holland knows how to skate and has incorporated it into his offseason workout. He's in Newark, Ohio, his hometown, right now and was headed to the rink as we talked on Wednesday.
Holland is a season-ticket holder for the Phoenix Coyotes because he lives out there. He went to the Stars-Coyotes game before Thanksgiving and wore his Holland Stars jersey with No. 45, of course.
