A few notes from Sunday's practice in Frisco.
Kari Lehtonen will get the start again when the Dallas Stars take on the Los Angeles Kings at American Airlines Center on Monday. This will be the final game of a three-game homestand prior to the Stars heading out for a three-game road trip to Western Canada. And it will be against a divisional foe that the Stars are 0-2-0 against this season.
"We've played two very good games against Los Angeles and have nothing to show for it," said Stars coach Marc Crawford. "They got off their slide last night. That should bode well for them, and they should be a more confident group coming in here. I think it's going to be a great game tomorrow."
Tomorrow's game is on Versus. Razor will be doing the national TV broadcast, and Brent Severyn will be joining Ralph Strangis on the radio broadcast.
Niskanen making progress
Defenseman Matt Niskanen, who has missed the last four games with a nasty cut on his hand, isn't ready to return yet, but he is making some progress.
"I got to touch a puck today," Niskanen said when asked how he was doing. "That was exciting."
Crawford gave an update on Niskanen after today's practice.
"Niskanen actually handled the puck for the first time today and he'll skate with us in the pregame skate tomorrow," said Crawford. "That's the first step in him getting a little bit more involved. We're very encouraged with how his healing has been going. This was his first chance to squeeze the stick, do some stickhandling and start to test."
