About the Stars

The Stars won their third straight game, beating Phoenix, 3-2, on Tuesday to open a four-game road trip against Pacific Division rivals. After giving up a 2-0 lead late in the game, the Stars got a power play with 13 seconds left and Jamie Benn scored with 4.8 seconds remaining to give Dallas the win.

“It’s huge to win. It’s huge to win in regulation,” said Stars coach Marc Crawford. “What it does is it takes away that valuable point they could have had. For us, our goal was to get two points and the second goal was to get it without giving them anything.”

Crawford said he would go with Kari Lehtonen in goal on Friday.

Injuries: Brad Richards (concussion-like symptoms) and D Nicklas Grossman (hip) are questionable.

About the Ducks

The Ducks won their second straight game, beating Detroit 2-1 in overtime Wednesday night in Anaheim. Bobby Ryan scored the game-winner, beating Jimmy Howard on a penalty shot in the extra period.

“Our penalty kill won the game for us, and Dan [Ellis] played a great game in the backstop," Ryan said. "Guys blocked shots, sacrificed their bodies and gutted it out for us.”

Anaheim killed eight of nine Detroit power plays in the game, including a five-on-three in regulation and a four-on-three in overtime.

Injuries: G Jonas Hiller (vertigo) and C Saku Koivu (groin) are out.
