The past week

The Texas Stars went 1-2-0 over the past week. The Stars are currently 40-26-10 and are currently in third place in the AHL’s West Division.

The Stars opened the week with a 3-2 overtime win over Chicago Friday at Cedar Park Center. Philip Larsen scored the game-winner 38 seconds into the extra period. Colton Sceviour and Maxime Fortunus also scored for Texas. Richard Bachman stopped 29 of 31 shots.

On Saturday, the Stars lost 2-0 at Oklahoma City. Bachman made 33 saves for the Stars, who were outshot 35-22 in the game.

The Stars lost 5-1 to Rockford at CPC on Sunday. Travis Morin scored the lone goal for Texas. Tyler Beskorowany stopped 31 of 36 shots.

This is the last week of the regular season in the AHL. The Stars play four games, two on the road and two at home.

AHL playoff race

With four games left in their season, the Stars sit in third place in the AHL’s West Division, where they top four teams will make the playoffs and a fifth team could make it as well if it finishes with more points than the fourth place team in the North Division.

The Stars currently have a three point lead on the fifth place team in the West Division, a four point lead on sixth and a five point lead on the seventh place team.

Idaho Steelheads

The Idaho Steelheads finished the regular season with a 32-27-13 record, which placed them fifth in the ECHL’s Western Conference. The Steelheads take on Las Vegas in the first round of the playoffs. Game 1 of the best-of-five series is Tuesday in Las Vegas.
