The Texas Stars will be heading to the Calder Cup Playoffs for the second time in their two-year history. The Stars finished fourth in the West Division with a 41-29-10 record and will take on the West Division’s top team, Milwaukee, in the first round of the playoffs. The Stars won five of six against the Admirals during the regular season. The Stars, who made it to the Calder Cup Finals last season, open the playoffs Thursday in Milwaukee.

The past week
The Stars opened last week with a 3-2 loss in Peoria. The Rivermen scored two third period goals to erase a 2-1 deficit and topple the Stars. Philip Larsen and Francis Wathier scored for Texas. Richard Bachman made 28 saves.
On Friday the Stars clinched a playoff spot with a 3-2 win in Milwaukee. Travis Morin scored twice, Ray Sawada scored once and Larsen chipped in two assists. Bachman stopped 31 shots.
The Stars returned home Saturday, losing 2-0 to Oklahoma City. Bachman made 32 saves.
On Sunday the Stars closed out the regular season with a 1-0 loss at San Antonio. Tyler Beskorowany stopped 27 of 28 shots.

Texas Stars goalie Richard Bachman had an impressive season, registering a 28-19-5 record, 2.20 goals against average, .927 save percentage and six shutouts. He was top five among all goaltenders in just about every key league category and was tops among rookies in those categories.

Glennie signs ATO with Texas
Forward Scott Glennie, Dallas’ first round pick (8th overall in 2009), signed an amateur tryout contract with Texas last week. He played the final four games of the regular season with Texas, registering no points and a minus-two rating.
