About the Stars

The Stars (7-3-0) opened a three-game homestand with a 5-3 loss to Los Angeles Thursday night. It was the Stars’ first loss in five home games (4-1-0) this season. The Stars rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third to tie the game, but Kings defenseman Slava Voynov scored from the point with 6:52 remaining to snap a 3-3 tie.

“For coming back from a road swing, I thought we played pretty well,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “We had a chance to win there with 10 minutes left in the third and you always want to put yourself in that position. We battled back in the third, showed some character, but in the end, another seeing-eye single that goes through and found its way to the back of the net.”

Saturday’s game will be the Stars’ first against the Eastern Conference this season.

Injuries: None

About the Devils

The Devils (4-3-1) are coming off a 5-3 loss at Phoenix Thursday night. New Jersey had a 2-1 lead early in the second, but the Coyotes scored four unanswered goals to put the Devils away.

"We were chasing from behind the whole game," New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer said. "They came at us in the first period and dictated the play. We had a little bit of a pushback, but for the most part we're chasing the whole night. That's a fast team over there and we didn't slow them down enough tonight."

Saturday’s game will conclude a four-game road trip for the Devils, who are 1-2-0 in the first three games.

Injuries: G Martin Brodeur (shoulder) and F Eric Boulton (hand) are day-to-day. F Travis Zajac (Achilles) and F Jacob Josefson (clavicle) are out.
