Practice update: Alex Goligoski gives it a go
By Mark Stepneski
FRISCO -- It was a quiet day in Frisco. It was an optional skate and seven players were on the ice this morning. Toby Petersen, Jake Dowell, Krys Barch, Adam Pardy, Tom Wandell and Tomas Vincour were the skaters. Andrew Raycroft manned the goal.
Alex Goligoski (broken thumb) skated on this own for a while this morning, handling and shooting pucks with his good hand. He then did some work with assistant coach Paul Jerrard.
The Stars looked at video of last night's 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said the game can appear different on tape than it does live, so he likes to go to the tape for a definitive assessment of exactly what happened on the ice.
"You get different looks. I always like to reserve judgement, so I can see it again. The game happens so fast," Gulutzan said. "We gave up some chances and we could clean those up a little bit, but our effort was apparent on the ice live and in the video. We finished more checks, we did more of the little things that eventually, over the 60 minute game, got us the victory."
Kari Lehtonen will get the start in goal tomorrow against the Los Angeles Kings, who will be playing in St. Louis tonight.
