About the Stars

The Stars won their third straight game, defeating the New York Islanders 3-2 at Nassau Coliseum Thursday night. The Stars trailed 2-1 after two periods, but scored twice in the third to improve to 3-1-0 on their current road trip.

“I thought our team played well,” said center Jamie Benn, who scored the game-winning goal and chipped in an assist as well. “We made a few mistakes, myself included, that cost us a goal in the second but we got it back in the third. It was a strong effort. It just comes down to hard work, and you have to keep it simple.”

The Stars’ last three wins have been by one goal. The Stars have a league-best 11-2-1 record in one-goal games this season.

Richard Bachman stopped 25 of 27 shots to win his third straight start. Stars coach Glen Gulutzan hasn’t decided if Bachman or Andrew Raycroft will start in goal Friday.

Injuries:  RW Tomas Vincour (knee), RW Adam Burish (broken hand) and G Kari Lehtonen (groin) are out.

About the Devils

The Devils (16-13-1) rallied from 2-0 deficit to beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 in a shootout in Sunrise, FL Tuesday night. It was the fourth win in the last five games (4-1-0) for New Jersey.

"I'm happy we got the two points. I think we deserved them," New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer said. "But even if we hadn't, I like the way we played."

Johan Hedberg will start in goal for the Devils Friday.

The Devils will retire the number of defenseman Scott Niedermayer’s No. 27 prior to Friday’s game.

Injuries:  C Travis Zajac (Achilles), RW David Clarkson (personal), D Anton Volchenkov (hand) and D Henrik Tallinder (wrist) are probable. D Andy Greene (toe) and C Jacob Josefson (clavicle) are out.
