Mike Ribeiro may not return until after break; Stars recall Wathier
By Mark Stepneski
FRISCO -- Stars center Mike Ribeiro, who has missed the last three games with a knee injury, may be out until after the All-Star break.
"He's a little bit better today, but he's still not a player," said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. "I don't think we'll see Ribby until after the All-Star break."
If Ribeiro is out until after the break, he would miss five more games and would return at the beginning of February.
Ribeiro was suffered a tear in his MCL in a knee-on-knee collision with Edmonton's Theo Peckham on January 7.
The Stars have recalled left wing Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars because some Dallas forwards are battling the flu. The 12 forwards who have been in the lineup recently and Wathier will all travel to St. Louis.
"With the sniffles and stuff guys have, we just want to make sure," Gulutzan said.
Defenseman Philip Larsen (concussion) and Tomas Vincour (knee) both took part in today's optional practice in Frisco. Both players have been skating on their own recently, but this was the first time both players had practiced since being injured.
"They should be another three or four days," Gulutzan said.
With the Stars playing at St. Louis Monday and then Detroit at American Airlines Center Tuesday, Gulutzan said Richard Bachman will start one of the two games but which one hasn't been decided yet.
