Ryan Garbutt to make NHL debut
By Mark Stepneski
Ryan Garbutt, called up from the Texas Stars due to the injury to Jamie Benn, will make his NHL debut tonight when the Dallas Stars play at Phoenix.
The 26-year-old has 17 goals and 16 assists in 50 AHL games this season.
“He’s a guy the guys in the American League say has played hard and solid for them down there. He’s got some speed and some toughness in his game and we’re going to give him an opportunity,” Dallas coach Glen Gulutzan said. “It’s our first year with him on a contract and he’s earned the opportunity to come up here and see what he can do.”
Garbutt is expected to play on a line with Jake Dowell and Adam Burish. Tom Wandell will take Benn’s on a line with Steve Ott and Tomas Vincour.
Kari Lehtonen is in goal tonight.
Here’s the Stars’ projected lineup.
