Postgame quotes

By Mark Stepneski

Here are some postgame quotes following the Dallas Stars’ 3-2 loss to the Nashville Predators at American Airlines Center Sunday night.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan on dealing with another close loss

“If you are going to let that bother you are going to be sunk, you’ve got to keep moving. As hard as it is to swallow, you have to keep doing the little things right. The moment you veer away and start losing confidence, you are in trouble. We’re doing little things right, but we’re not getting results.”

Gulutzan on Nashville’s power play goal with 0.2 seconds left in the first period

“We made a mistake with 11 seconds left. We did not know what our escape route was off that faceoff. We won it clean and we couldn’t get it out, and that is a mistake that can’t happen. It just can’t happen.”

Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski

“We’ve got to get some kind of consistency with winning, and that point is probably right now. You say it’s the Phoenix game and then after that you say maybe it’s this one, but right now our desperation level has to be as high as it is going to get.”

Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas on the team’s 0-9-2 record in the second game of back-to-backs

“I don’t know. It’s frustrating for sure. It’s something I can’t really explain why. You look at Phoenix the other day (Feb. 7), they played a back-to-back game in our building and beat us 4-1. There’s no excuse. It’s part of the reality of the NHL, every team goes through back-to-backs and you’ve got to be able to win some of those games, and we haven’t been able to win any so far this year.”

Nashville coach Barry Trotz on the power play goal at the end first period

“That was pretty important. Any time you score late in a period or at the start of a period, that’s a big momentum builder. That was huge for us. We haven’t scored the first goal. We’ve been chasing every game it seems for the longest time here. Hopefully we can get that turned around.”
