By Mark Stepneski

Texas announces Clear Day Roster

The Texas Stars announced their Clear Day Roster Tuesday. The 22 players on the roster are eligible to compete in the remainder of the AHL regular season and in the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless an emergency arises due to recall, injury or suspension. Teams can also add signed junior players or players on amateur tryout contracts after their respective junior or college seasons are complete.

Forward Ryan Garbutt is not on Texas’ Clear Day Roster, an indication that he is staying in Dallas for the remainder of the season. Tomas Vincour is on the Texas roster, which means he is eligible to be assigned back to the AHL.

Here is the Texas Clear Day Roster:

Goaltenders: Tyler Beskorowany, Andrew Raycroft

Defensemen: Jordie Benn, Jace Coyle, Brenden Dillon, Maxime Fortunus, Brad Lukowich, Drew Schiestel, Dan Spang

Forwards: Angelo Esposito, Michael Forney, Matt Fraser, Luke Gazdic, Scott Glennie, Eric Godard, Mike Hedden, Travis Morin, Colton Sceviour, Mathieu Tousignant, Tomas Vincour (recalled), Francis Wathier, Shawn Weller

Texas also has four players in residence: Scott Campbell, Matt Case, Jake Hauswirth, Hubert Labrie . Those players can only be used during the remainder of the regular season or the playoffs if a combination of three members of the 22-man roster are injured, recalled or suspended.

Sawada sent to St. John’s

The Dallas Stars assigned right wing Ray Sawada to St. Johns of the AHL on Friday. Sawada, Dallas’s 2nd round pick (52nd overall) in 2004, played only 26 games with Texas this season due to injuries.

The past week

Texas went 1-1-0-0 over the past week. The Stars are 25-28-2-2 on the season and rank 15th in the AHL’s Western Conference. They are currently 11 points out of a playoff spot.

Texas’ road losing streak hit eight games with a 2-1 loss at Abbotsford Friday night. Angelo Esposito scored the lone goal for Texas and Andrew Raycroft stopped 27 of 29 shots.

On Sunday, Texas snapped the road losing streak with a 4-1 victory at Abbotsford. Luke Gazdic scored two goals and Francis Wathier and Colton Sceviour also scored. Tyler Beskorowany stopped 30 shots to get the win in goal.

Texas now returns home for a seven-game homestand.
