Scott Glennie and Jack Campbell updates
By Mark Stepneski
Dallas Stars prospect Scott Glennie didn’t register any points but his line scored two goals for Team White, which beat Team Red 6-3 at Canada’s National Junior Team development camp in St. John’s, Newfoundland Friday evening.
Glennie did play a role in one of those goals. He drove the net to create traffic and linemate Brayden Schenn scored from close range to give Team White a 4-2 lead early in the 2nd period. It was the first of two goals for Schenn in the game.
Glennie played right wing on a line with Schenn at center and Kyle Clifford at left wing. Glennie and Schenn are teammates with the Brandon Wheat Kings and Clifford plays for the Barrie Colts of the OHL. That trio had a strong game.
The second Red-White game is Saturday at 4:30 (CT) and can be seen at hockeycanada.fasthockey.com on a pay-per-view basis.
A recap and box score of the game are available here.
Stars goaltending prospect Jack Campbell dressed but did not play in the USA’s 4-1 loss to Sweden at the USA evaluation camp in Lake Placid Friday. The final game of the camp is Saturday when the USA plays Finland.
NHL.com has a story on Campbell, which begins:
The slogan for the U.S. team working at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp is "Earned, not given," and that applies to everyone -- even the goaltender with the bushel of gold medals.
Jack Campbell, who backstopped the U.S. to the 2010 World Junior Championship gold medal in Saskatoon -- the sandwich between a pair of World Under-18 Championship golds -- is working just as hard to make the 2011 WJC team as he did last year.
