Jack Campbell wins Windsor debut
By Mark Stepneski
Stars goaltending prospect Jack Campbell won his Ontario Hockey League debut, stopping 27 of 31 shots as the Windsor Spitfires rallied to beat the Plymouth Whalers 5-4 in Windsor Thursday night.
I watched online and thought Campbell - the Stars' 1st round pick (11th overall) in 2010 - played well. It was a solid performance in what was a sloppy game in front of him at times.
Plymouth dominated the game for basically the first 35 minutes, building a 4-1 lead. Windsor had a young defense for the game and it showed. Campbell faced several quality chances and didn’t have a chance on a couple of the goals. He kept his team around it though, and they were able to rally.
Windsor scored late in the second to make it a 4-2 game and then scored three unanswered goals in the third to get the win. Campbell was hugging his teammates at the end of the night.
