Stars fall 2-1 at Colorado

The Dallas Stars dropped to 2-2-0 in preseason play after a 2-1 loss at the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday night.
Andrew Raycroft stopped 25 of 27 shots in his second appearance of the preseason. James Neal scored the lone goal for the Stars.
The Stars had an 8-1 shots advantage early in the game, but the Avalanche outshot them 26-13 the rest of the way for a 27-21 advantage for the game.
Colorado scored on its third shot of the game. Right off the faceoff on the Avalanche’s first power play chance of the night, Paul Stastny scored knocked home a rebound at the 11:50 mark to give Colorado a 1-0 lead.
The Avs outshot the Stars 12-5 in the second period and extended their lead to 2-0 on another goal by Stastny, who redirected a shot by Adam Foote past Raycroft at 16:51 of the period.
The Stars scored on the power play with 4:25 remaining in the game to make it a 2-1 game. Severin Blindenbacher set up Neal, who scored on a backhand shot.
The Stars, who were 1-4 on the power play game, had another power play right after the Neal goal but couldn’t get the equalizer.
The Stars and Avalanche play another preseason game Thursday night at the American Airlines Center.
