Postgame quotes, notes from the Stars

By Richard Durrett

DALLAS -- The Stars were disappointed after Sunday's loss, but felt like they were the better team in the final two periods. Coach Marc Crawford reiterated that when he talked to the media. It was big mistakes that cost Dallas on three of the goals and the fourth one, Alex Auld would like to have back. Here are some quotes from the team and coach (thanks to the Stars media relations guru Travis Betts):

Brad Richards: "It was a tough one to take. We've been playing well at home, but we didn't play a full 60 minutes tonight. It was a little too late to try to turn it on. Obviously, our goals against were pretty blatant mistakes by us. We've been better at that lately. Tonight, for some reason, they were pretty easy goals."

Nicklas Grossman: "We said before the game we've got to come out strong cause we knew they were playing last night. They've been playing a lot lately. So we wanted a good start, but they came out skating hard, and I don't think we were ready for them. So they got a good start on us and we gave up a couple of goals. I think we battled back well in the second and third and I think we were the better team out there, but there were some big mistakes that cost us goals in the back. They play well, so we've got to eliminate those mistakes and try to clean up a little bit."

Alex Auld (on the fourth goal): “I didn’t see the puck off his stick and he beat me with a good shot, but from distance. We had some momentum and it kind of killed that right there. We showed that we weren’t going to quit. We kept battling and had some great chances, but we weren’t able to get anymore.”

Some notes:

* Dallas is now 8-2-0 in its last 10 home games. The loss ends Dallas' five-game AAC winning streak.

* Steve Ott scored his 11th goal of the season.

* Trevor Daley has points in three of his last six games, including an assist on Sunday.

* Alex Auld got his second assist of the season, both in his last three games.
