Texas Stars/Idaho Steelheads Report

The past week
The Texas Stars played just one game this past week, defeating the Chicago Wolves 3-2 in Cedar Park Wednesday to snap a four-game losing streak, which had been the longest in franchise history.
The Stars are 7-6-0-0 on the season and in sixth place in the West Division, but they have at least two games in hand on every team in the division.
In Wednesday’s game Francis Wathier scored two goals, including the game-winner on a power play with 4:25 remaining in the third period for the Stars. Greg Rallo also scored a goal and Brent Krahn stopped 20 of 22 shots to improve to 5-4-0 on the season.
The Stars play four games in six nights over the next week, starting on Tuesday when they host Chicago again.

- Texas’ power play, which had been 3-44 over its previous nine games, scored twice on Wednesday and provided the game-winning goal.
- Defenseman Severin Blindenbacher, who had missed nine games due to a concussion suffered in a minor car accident, returned to action in Wednesday’s game against Chicago.
- RW Ray Sawada, who had missed 11 games with injury, returned in Wednesday’s game against Chicago and assisted on Francis Wathier’s game-winning goal.
- 11/9: Dallas assigned RW Sean Backman from to Texas (AHL) to Idaho (ECHL).
The Idaho Steelheads went 1-1-0-1 in a three-game set against the Stockton Thunder over the past week and are now 5-4-2- on the season.
Tyler Beskorowany got one start in the three games and stopped 43 of 44 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss to Stockton. The only goal against Beskorowany in regulation went in off an Idaho defenseman’s stick.
Beskorowany is now 4-3-1-2 on the season with a 2.27 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. Beskorowany ranks sixth in the league in GAA and third in save percentage.
RW Sean Backman, assigned from the Texas Stars to Idaho last week, picked up two goals and one assist in three games for the Steelheads. Backman notched second star honors in two of the games.
